# Agent SDK The Palantir Agent SDK is a pro-code way to build agents on the Agent Stack. The Agent SDK lets you define an agent in TypeScript and publish it as a Foundry resource. Specifically, the Agent SDK is an advanced agent harness that is optimized for building agents with custom observability interfaces, human-in-the-loop interactions, embedded deterministic logic, and more. The harness is model agnostic and supports calling open-source or sovereign models. ## Benefits of the Agent SDK Writing an agent in code using the Agent SDK provides the following benefits: * Agents can be built with a simple API that includes system prompt and tools. * Agents can react to external events as they run in a first-class way. * Agent runtimes can be customized through features such as custom [context items](../../aip/agent-stack/index.md#context-items), [events](../../aip/agent-stack/index.md#events-and-state-transitions), and [effects](../advanced-customization/index.md#custom-effects). * Agents can be model and harness agnostic. ## Next steps To begin, use the [getting started guide](../getting-started/index.md) to create and publish an agent.
